Eternity

Today, I was sitting at a red light, and across the intersection in the median was a cross memorial for someone who had died in a car accident. I've seen them 1,000 times. However, this time it hit me. Just 30 feet in front of me was the place where someone went from being in this world to being in eternity. I realized that I could cross that same intersection when the light turned green and go from this life to eternity. Tonight, I could go to bed and then "wake up" in eternity. As Jonathan Oldacre said, "Christ is just on the other side."
So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.
Psalm 90:12
I want to live with the knowledge that eternity is at hand. That at any moment I will leave this life and enter into eternity, and because of faith in Jesus Christ's finished work on the cross for my sins by God's grace I will enjoy heaven with the Father, forever! Just because eternity is far-reaching does not mean that it is far away.

Like a Child

Today, I was riding on a mower to hole 7. As I passed hole 6, I saw this little boy standing on the fairway near the cart path. He was watching his dad and grandfather play golf. When he heard me drive by on my mower, he turned and looked at me. With the biggest smile and as loud as he could (enough to be heard over a mower), he waved and said, "Hello!" All I could do was smile and wave back. Then, I thought of Matthew 18:1-4.
At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
I was challenged: Why am I not afraid like this little boy? He acted as if he knew me his whole life, but I had never seen him before. I should be so joyful about seeing people I don't know! The little boy was not afraid; he only wanted to convey "Hello." Lord, make me like that little boy in that I will not be afraid and will want to convey the gospel.

Me, My Talents and My Skills

I thought I would make everyone feel better about themselves...by letting them know that no matter how hard they try, they can never be as good as me. Let me just highlight some of my many successes.

Here I am in my Coffeyville Community College (Go Ravens!) football days (I was very tan back then):

4th of July with Sparklers

The following videos are proof that sparklers (along with a little duct tape) can make for a very enjoyable 4th of July. The second video took place in the water (for a better echo). Enjoy!
